Assam is currently grappling with its second wave of floods this year, triggered by heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh and upper Assam.
During their conversation, Sarma updated Modi on the flood conditions, highlighting the extensive impact across several districts, which has disrupted daily life and posed significant challenges. The Chief Minister also briefed Modi on the relief measures initiated by the state government to assist affected residents.
"I explained to him that Assam is experiencing a second wave of floods this year due to heavy rains in Arunachal Pradesh and part of our upper Assam districts. I also briefed him about the relief measures undertaken by the state government," Sarma wrote on Twitter.
Prime Minister Modi expressed deep concern over the situation and assured Sarma of the central government's complete cooperation in managing the crisis. "He assured me of full cooperation from the Government of India in this hour of crisis," Sarma added.
The conversation underscores the collaborative efforts between the state and central governments to alleviate the challenges posed by the floods in Assam.
