Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday inaugurated the second-longest flyover in the state in Guwahati as a gift to the people of the city for Durga Puja.

The flyover, known as the Shraddhanjali flyover, is a 2.28 km long flyover connecting Commerce Point with Sundarpur.

Just before CM Sarma officially inaugurated the flyover, he went for a walk on it.

In a span of 19 months, the 2.28-kilometer Shraddhanjali Flyover had been completed. It is named after the park that is situated in front of the Assam State Zoo/Botanical Garden on RG Baruah Road, Shraddhanjali Kanan.

The flyover, which was constructed at a cost of more than Rs 316 crore, is hailed as a lifesaver for visitors to Janata Bhawan and the State Zoo as it is expected to reduce travel times by at least 50%.

Additionally, the two-lane flyover has an arm extension from Zoo Road Tiniali Point to Mother Teresa Road, which leads to Geetanagar.

The length of the arm is 300 meters, and the distance from the Commerce point to Sundarpur is 1.98 kilometers out of 2.28 kilometers. The construction of the flyover was started in 2021.
