The cabinet approved the implementation of green energy projects with a combined capacity of 620 MW under a joint venture between OIL and Assam Power Generation Company (APGCL).
Digital Desk: The Assam Cabinet approved the development of green power projects in the state on Thursday.
Several significant decisions were made during a weekly meeting held at Janata Bhawan in Dispur, including those about the solar project, air connection, recruitment in colleges, compensation for land acquisition, and employment of safai karmacharis.
The cabinet approved the implementation of green energy projects with a combined capacity of 620 MW under a joint venture between OIL and Assam Power Generation Company (APGCL).
In the following district, at least seven green power projects will be implemented:
· 70-MW Sonbeel Floating Solar Power Project
· 100-MW Tezpur Agrivoltaic Project
· 40-MW Golaghat Floating Solar Power Project
· 200-MW Margherita Solar Power Project
· 50 MW Lower Kopili Agrivoltaic Project
· 60-MW Chandrapur PSP with Solar Power Project
· 100-MW Batadrava Agrivoltaic Project
With no obligation to the state government, the mentioned projects will be funded with an 80:20 debt ratio.
The projects will benefit 1,250 farmers and their families, as well as up to 125 small producer organisations, the cabinet stated.
In the meantime, the initiatives that are being considered in the Assamese districts of Sonitpur, Nagaon, and Dima Hasao would promote steady economic progress.
Further significant choices made in the cabinet meeting include the ones listed below:
New 70 MW Solar Project
· Khudigaon Part-II under Bilasipara Revenue Circle in the Dhubri district will now has a 70 MW Solar Power Plant that will be approved for construction and sell electricity to APDCL.
· The proposed Solar Power Plant will be created by Solar Power Generator in a Build-Own-Operate format.
Improving Air Connectivity:
• Low-cost air services to be operated between non-UDAN routes
• ATDC will execute an MoU with FlyBig Airline
• The airlines will offer tickets at market price, with prices not exceeding Rs. 4,500 even during times of peak demand.
• In the initial phase, such flights will run on Dibrugarh-Guwahati and Guwahati-Silchar routes on a pilot basis for 3 months.
• Via ATDC, the State Government would provide Viability Gap Financing (VGF) for the operation of such air services.
College Recruiting Streamlining
• To choose college principals and assistant professors, the Assam College Services Recruitment Board would be established.
Equitable Reward for Land Acquisition
• To rationalise Multiplication Factors and evaluate the concept of "urban area," the Assam Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement Regulations, 2015 will be revised.
Streamlining the Employment of Safai Karmacharis
The Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act of 2013 will be implemented, and an Assam State Commission for Safar Karmacharis will be established to supervise its compliance.
