    Assam Cabinet Meet: Retirement benefits for Anganwadi workers

    Guwahati: The Assam cabinet in its weekly meet, chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, touched upon major issues of the state including some important decisions being taken during the meet. Among its several important decisions taken during the course of the meet includes retirement benefits for Anganwadi employees, housing benefits for Government employees, reservation for ex-servicemen, etc

    Some of the other major decisions taken by the Assam cabinet led by CM Sarma are as follows:-





    • Housing benefits for government employees:-
      • The state government has sanctioned an amount of Rs 4,312.66 cr for 31,996 numbers of beneficiaries.
    • Retirement benefits for Anganwadi workers:-
      • The Assam cabinet has approved a one-time terminal benefit to Assam Anganwadi workers at the time of retirement.
      • Rs 4 lakh benefit at the retiring age to Anganwadi working serving at Anganwadi centre
      • Rs 3 lakh to Anganwadi worker serving at Mini Anganwadi centre
      • 2 lakh to Anganwadi helper working at Anganwadi centre




    • Construction of high voltage distribution system, aerial bunched cables, new sub-stations & ,  lines, bifurcation of feeders, re-conducting of existing lines, SCADA etc.
    • Conversion of Government loans and grants to AEGCL and APGCL into equity and waive the unpaid loan interests.
    • 2% reservation for ex-Servicemen in Grade-III & Grade-IV posts
    • 25% reservation for disabled ex-Servicemen killed in the line of duty
    • 75% reservation for other ex-Servicemen
    • For the benefit of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), the Assam cabinet has decided to set up an investment Holding Company to hold and manage the portfolio of investments in oil, gas and fertilizer companies.
    • The cabinet has also approved requirement for Residential Status Certificate/Domicile Certificate for candidates selected for various posts in Assam Police after publication of the results.
    • SCs, STs and OBCs are excluded from providing such certificate for the same
    • With concerns to rampant drink and drive cases and related casualties, Assam Chief Minister during a video conference with the district commissioners, superintendents of police, District Transport Officials and Superintendents of Excise of all districts, directed the officials to put adequate measures to prevent drink and drive cases.
