Digital desk: The selection of candidates for the state's legislative seats has progressed significantly under the Assam Congress in the lead-up to the next Assam Assembly elections. However, in important constituencies, a decision is still pending.
The party has verified the ten seats it has selected. Lurinjyoti Gogoi of the AJP has been officially declared as one of these choices for Dibrugarh. The only seat that Congress has left for its coalition is in Dibrugarh, where Lurinjyoti Gogoi of the Assam Jatiya Parishad will run.
Despite these developments, there are still obstacles in the way of decision-making in four important constituencies: Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Nagaon, and Sonitpur.
Sonia Gandhi has suggested Assam Congress President Bhupen Kumar Borah to run from Sonitpur, while she has suggested Gaurav Gogoi or Debabrata Saikia for Jorhat and Pradyut Bordoloi for Nagaon, according to sources within the party hierarchy.
