    Assam Covid-19 Update: Records 2,294 cases, 22 casualties
    Digital Desk: Assam has witnessed a drop in positive cases in the last few days. According to the state health ministry data, Assam recorded 2,294 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday. 

    The National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin stated that around 35,777 samples were tested on Saturday. Out of these 35,777 tests done, 2294 new Covid-19 cases were detected. 

    Moreover, the state marks the overall positivity rate at 6.41%, much lower than earlier days in the state. There is a significant drop in the overall positivity rate to 6.41 per cent against 6.96 per cent on Friday.

    On Friday, 21 people were reported to succumb to death due to the deadly virus. This number takes the death toll to 6,422, while 1,347 COVID patients have died due to other causalities. Besides, the state recorded 22 casualties in 24 hours.

    The NHM bulletin further added that Kamrup Metro has alone recorded 535 fresh Covid-19 cases on Saturday. Being the hub of the Northeast, Kamrup Metro has been at the top of the list, counting the highest positive cases.

    The current death rate in Assam is 0.90 per cent, with the Kamrup Metro district reporting five deaths and Sivasagar three.

    Assam recorded a recovery rate of 94.88% on Friday. The number of active cases presently is 28,788, the bulletin stated. 

    The number of recovered patients released from clinics on Saturday is 5,497. A sum of 6,77,128 has been healed of the virus so far, with a recovery rate of 94.88 per cent in the state.

    The number of individuals immunized during the day is 79,482, lower than the previous day’s 94,747.
