    Assam Covid-19 update: Records 5,580 new cases, 13 more casualties
    Digital Desk: Assam continues to see a spike in Covid-19 cases. According to the state health ministry, Assam recorded 5,580 new positive cases in a single day on Saturday.

    The National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin stated a fall of over 1300 cases in the state on Saturday compared to the previous day.

    Moreover, the number of causalities in the state has been recorded to 13, which is two less than the earlier day at 15. However, the positivity rate has increased at the slightest pace with 12.16 percent against 12.13 percent on Friday.

    The fresh cases were identified from 45,900 samples tested throughout the day, with the number of tests falling from 56,849 on Friday when 6,897 new cases were detected.

    The NHM bulletin stated that Kamrup Metro continued to mark the highest number of Covid-19 positive cases. On Saturday, Kamrup alone recorded 1,172 infections in a single day. 

    Kamrup being the hub of the northeast, continues to steer upbeat cases. However, it is a dip from 1,561 infections identified on Friday. Jorhat registered 330 fresh cases among other districts, Dibrugarh 294 and Sivasagar 239. 

    Jorhat, Kamrup Metropolitan, and Karbi Anglong districts registered two casualties each day. Whereas one each was registered from Baksa, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Karimganj, Nalbari, and Tinsukia.

    The casualty tally in the state has increased to 6,288, with the death rate at 0.91 percent. In addition, the number of COVID-19 positive patients dying on other grounds is 1,347.

    The NHM bulletin also provided data on the number of patients recovered from the deadly virus. As per data, 2,918 individuals were discharged from various clinics and Covid Care Centers on Saturday. 

    The absolute number of remedied COVID-19 patients in the state has risen to 6,35,229, with the recovery rate at 91.99 percent.

    The present active COVID-19 caseload in the state is currently at 47,670, an expansion from 45,021 cases the day before. The NHM bulletin displayed a sum of 4,06,83,150 doses of vaccines have been administered so far. 

    This number of vaccination includes 2,30,56,428 first doses, 1,75,20,084 second doses and 1,06,638 precaution doses.
