    Assam DGP Promises to End Fake Gold and FICN Trades in the State Within 30 Days

    Digital Desk: Assam police have launched a war against the illegal trade of fake Indian Currency Notes Information System (FICN) and fake gold rackets operating in the state.


    In an effort to put a halt to these illegal operations, the Assam DGP has set a 30-day deadline to clean up the FICN and fake gold trade in the state.


    Addressing the media at a press conference, DGP GP Singh said, "In the public domain, two things have come up: FICN and fake gold, and we have to conduct a massive campaign on the same."


    Further, the DGP stated that on May 19, 71 persons were apprehended in connection with the trading of FICN and fake gold.


    According to police, eight people were apprehended from Biswanath, four from Karbi Anglong, ten from Nagaon, ten from Noth Lakhimpur, eleven from Sonitpur, four from Barpeta, four from Bogaigaon, six from Morigaon, two from Udalguri, one each from Tamulpur, Baksa, and Darrang, nine from Kokrajhar, and four from Dhubri.


    Around Rs 6.5 lakh, along with fake gold, was recovered from the Biswanath district.


    "We will ensure that this FICN and fake gold business is completely eradicated from Assam in the next 30 days," said the DGP.


    In this regard, authorities have begun an investigation by investigating the accused mobile phones in order to identify the backward and forward links.


    The DGP also warned all police officers that Assam police will be tough against any officials who are criminal in nature.
