Golaghat SP Rajen Singh was accused of abusing his authority earlier today by Tarun Gogoi, a forest ranger in Kaziranga National Park.

According to reports, the Golaghat SP held the forest officer captive at the police station in a fit of wrath when the official refused to provide his family members the five tickets they requested for an elephant safari excursion.

Speaking to the media, Tarun Gogoi, a forest officer, stated: "I received a call at about 11 PM from Kohora's in-charge, informing them that tickets for elephant safaris are not available. I contacted the SP and asked him to make reservations for the following day, but I told him that wouldn't be possible because all of the tickets had already been sold out."

Gogoi went on to add that the SP had threatened him by asking, "If we arrest you in a case and say the police will not release you tomorrow but the next day...will that work..and disconnected the call."
