Digital Desk: Assam's Director General of Police (DGP), GP Singh, has issued strong directives to law enforcement agencies, emphasizing the importance of maintaining law and order in the state. In light of recent criminal incidents, Singh urged stakeholders to take swift and decisive action against any individuals who violate the law, underlining the critical need to preserve peace.
These instructions come in response to a series of clashes involving individuals from different communities, raising concerns about growing tensions in Assam. The DGP has called for a meeting with police stations, civic bodies, and district administrations, urging all parties to ensure the law is upheld consistently.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Singh reiterated the Assam Police's commitment to enforcing the law strictly. He urged all stakeholders to cooperate in maintaining law and order across the state, stating, "Instructions have been issued to all field formations for strict action against anyone trying to break the law."
In response to the recent clashes, Singh stressed the importance of police acting with absolute neutrality, avoiding any actions outside the legal framework. He clarified that any failure by field police units to uphold the rule of law would be taken seriously and addressed accordingly.
Additionally, the DGP instructed district police units to collaborate with Thana Level Nagrik Committees and district administrations to hold regular meetings with community stakeholders. This approach aims to foster harmony and prevent further escalation of tensions.
DGP Singh’s directive highlights the Assam Police's responsibility to act impartially and reinforces its commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining order amid growing concerns about inter-community clashes in the state.
