Digital Desk: The Director of Secondary Education in Assam, Mamata Hojai, has issued a directive aimed at the teaching and non-teaching staff of Provincialised Secondary Schools. The directive, issued, mandates the initiation of departmental proceedings against any staff found acquiring academic or professional qualifications during their service period without prior permission from the appointing authority.
Hojai, through an official notification, highlighted the violation of Rule 13 of Assam Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1965 by government employees pursuing educational or professional qualifications without the necessary consent.
"The pursuit of any Educational/Professional qualification by the Provincialised Secondary Schools' staff during their tenure is a clear breach of the aforementioned Rule and subjects them to potential punishment as per the provisions of the Assam Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1964," the notification stated.
Rule 13 explicitly states, "No Government Servant while in Government Service shall join or attend any educational institution or appear at an examination of a recognized Board or University without obtaining previous permission from the appointing authority."
This directive aims to enforce adherence to established regulations and maintain discipline within the educational workforce in Assam.
