    Assam Encounter: Rapist Rajinikanth Daimary shot at by Assam police

    Morigaon: Fifty-year-old Rajinikanth Daimary who raped three minor girls of Jengorbori village, Morigaon, was injured in a police encounter when he tried to run away from police custody on Wednesday late night.





    Police officials said that when the accused was taken to the crime scene for investigation, he tried to run away from the police custody and to stop him, a police officer shot him.





    On Wednesday, Rajinikanth Daimary rapped three minor girls aged between 6-7 years in his house who are reportedly in critical condition. After committing the crime, he fled away from his house and was later arrested yesterday from the Amtola area.

    A case has been registered in the Lahorighat police station following a complaint by the family members of the three minors against Rajinikanth Daimary.





    The police registered the case under sections 376 AB and R/W section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act.





    As per the police, Daimary lured the minors, brought them to his home, and raped them.





    Currently, Daimary is admitted at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital and is undergoing treatment.
