    Assam Government forms Tamulpur new district
    Digital Desk: Tamulpur has been designated as the state's new district by the Assam government. Tamulpur is a subdivision of the Baksa district, which the BTC administers. The district would be the 35th district of Assam.

    The BTC currently covers four districts: Kokrajhar, Chirang, Udalguri, and Baksa. 

    "For Administrative Expediency, the Governor of Assam is pleased to sanction the formation of a new Administrative District to be known as 'Tamulpur'. Comprising the whole area of existing Tamulpur Civil Sub-Division of the district of Baksa with its headquarters at Tamulpur,'' read a notification dated January 23rd.

    Tamulpur was suggested as a new district in Assam by the state administration in July of last year. The decision to make Tamulpur a distinct district has been discussed for a long time. "Tamulpur district will be established.

    Darangajuli, Goibari, Nagrijuli, and Suklai Serfang constituencies of the BTC will be included in Tamulpur district. BTC will be divided into five districts. Currently, the BTC oversees four districts.

    "Last year, when speaking at an election rally in Tamulpur's Ghagrachowk, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

    According to the government of Assam, the construction of the new district of Tamulpur will help to increase economic activity and administrative control in the region.

    Tamulpur will acquire a new bridge over the Pagladia, a government college with Science, Arts, and Commerce courses, and a sports stadium in addition to the Medical College.
