    Assam Government to train 6,600 youths of the State; will provide subsidy

    Guwahati: To create a team of self-employed youths, Assam Cabinet announces to train 6,600 youths of the State. Additionally, it will provide a loan of Rs 1 lakh each to buy commercial vehicles.





    The meeting chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also decides to appoint 8,855 youths from the field ranging from paramedics to doctors and nurses in the health department.





    Minister Pijush Hazarika asserted this decision is a part of the government's goal to create 1 lakh new jobs in the State.





    Reportedly, Transport and skill development department will jointly hold driving training for the 6,600 youth or 50 youths per constituency.





    Following the completion, these trained drivers will be given a subsidy of Rs 1 lakh to buy their commercial passengers vehicles.





    Minister Pijush Hazarika said, "The cabinet also opted to increase the DA and DR of the state government employees and pensioners by 11 percent, hence it increases the existing 17 percent to 28 percent."





    "It will come into force from July 1, 2021." added Hazarika.
