Digital Desk: In the ongoing war against drugs, Kamrup police chased down a passenger bus near Kukurmara on Friday and seized heroin worth around 30 lakhs.
Based on a specific input, Kamrup Additional Superintendent of Police Kalyan Kumar Pathak led a large-scale operation to apprehend a passenger bus which was involved in smuggling of drugs.
While chasing the passenger bus the police also apprehended a person named Abdul Kayam on suspicion of smuggling the drugs.
It is to be noted that Chhaygaon police assisted the Kamrup police in intercepting the bus.
As per the reports, the bus was travelling from Guwahati to Mankachar, Assam when it was intercepted near Kukurmara.
Officials estimated that the drugs consignment was worth 29,60,000 and it was seized during a thorough search of a passenger bus registered with the number AS 01 FC 3133.
The accused was taken to Chhaygaon police station where he is being interrogated.
It may be mentioned that further investigation into the matter is underway and more details are awaited.
