Guwahati: As per sources, a meeting is likely to take place in Guwahati next week between Assam and Meghalaya chief ministers.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Meghalaya counterpart Conrad Sangma will meet to discuss crucial issues.
Sources state that Sangma called Sarma previously this week to seek his time for the meeting on important matters. The discussion will also talk on Assam-Meghalaya border issue and the NDA progress. It will particularly discuss on the upcoming Manipur election where both the BJP as well as Sangma’s party would be contesting.
The two chief ministers are likely to visit the border regions connecting the two states as part of the confidence-building measures to seek a permanent resolution for the border conflict.

The six disputable regions are Tarabari, Gizang, Hashim, Boklapara, Khanapara-Pilangkata. It can be seen that both states are trying to resolve the border disputes in a friendly and peaceable manner.
Months ago, just after the Assam-Mizoram conflict, there was a meeting between the North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) chief Sarma and the Meghalaya CM. As a result, regional committees were created to help resolve this decades-long problem.
The bond that Sangma has in the opposition groups is something that the BJP will watch out ahead of the upcoming elections in Manipur.
