    PROUD! Assam's Riyan Parag gets Lala Amarnath Best All-rounder Award in domestic cricket

    In a glittering ceremony conducted in Hyderabad on Tuesday, the winners were announced by the Board of Cricket Control for India (BCCI).

    Digital Desk: Assam captain and all-rounder Riyan Parag has been named the Lala Amarnath Best All-rounder for the 2022–2023 domestic cricket season.

    The esteemed honour was presented to Riyan by Indian Captain Rohit Sharma.

    In addition to Riyan Parag, Rahul Dalal of Arunachal Pradesh received the Madhav Rao Scindia Award for winning the Ranji Trophy's most wicket-taker title for the 2019–20 season. The Lala Amarnath Best All-Rounder Ranji Trophy Award for the 2019–20 season went to Tripura native MB Murasigh.

    The winner of the Jagmohan Dalmiya Trophy for Best Women Cricketer (Sr Domestic) for 2022–2023 was Arunachal Pradesh's Nabam Yapu.

    Cricketing greats Shubman Gill, Ravi Shastri, Smriti Mandhana, and Jasprit Bumrah were among the stars who attended the star-studded BCCI Awards ceremony.

    Riyan, who was born on November 10, 2001, is the Assam team's captain at the moment. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), he has also played for the Rajasthan Royals squad and has made a number of noteworthy plays over the league's seasons.   

    He became the tournament's top run scorer after being picked for the India-A team for the India U19 Challenger Trophy in 2017.
    Throughout the 2022–2023 season, Riyan has been outstanding both at bat and with the ball. He had a successful run in the Ranji Trophy.

    In the current Ranji Trophy match in Raipur, Riyan just smashed a century off of 56 balls against Chhattisgarh.

    He scored the fourth-fastest century among Indians in first-class cricket with 11 fours and 12 sixes in his innings.

    Using the bat, he set the example, scoring 155 runs at a strike rate of 178.16 off just 87 balls.

    The last two winners of the Lala Amarnath Best All-rounder Award for all-rounders were the Tamil Nadu native Babar Aparajith in 2019–20 and the Himachal Pradesh native Rishi Dhawan in 2020–21.
