Digital Desk: The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), has announced new guidelines for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination slated for 2025. These guidelines encompass various modifications aimed at enhancing the assessment process and aligning it with contemporary educational standards.

One significant change is the introduction of four sets of question papers (A, B, C, and D) in the OMR format. Additionally, a novel elective subject titled "Artificial Intelligence and Robotics" will be introduced for Class IX students, marking a stride towards integrating emerging technologies into the curriculum.

To ensure comprehensive evaluation, students must attain a pass percentage in both the Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and Descriptive Questions sections separately. Moreover, practical examinations for all subjects will be overseen by the District Level Internal Examination Committee.

Innovative assessment methods are set to redefine question patterns across various subjects. For instance, questions in English and other languages may feature unseen passages and grammar items, focusing on learning outcomes rather than specific chapters. Similarly, Science and Mathematics assessments will emphasize conceptual understanding, deviating from rote memorization.

Furthermore, question papers may incorporate examples and references, enriching the assessment process and fostering critical thinking skills.

Additionally, the inclusion of application-based MCQs, necessitating summations and calculations, underscores a shift toward practical knowledge acquisition.

These reforms underscore SEBA's commitment to modernizing the examination system in line with the National Education Policy of 2020. By embracing innovative assessment techniques and fostering holistic learning experiences, SEBA aims to equip students with the skills necessary for success in an ever-evolving global landscape.
