Under the initiative of the state government, employees of the state government are granted two days of casual leave over and above their usual quota so that they can spend quality time with their parents. This scheme aims to benefit the huge number of state government employees who are posted in different parts of the state, away from their families.
The notification mentioned that interested employees must apply online on a special portal launched by the state government. The dates for availing of this special leave are mentioned to be November 6 and 8, 2023. The dates have been matched with the second Saturday and Sunday of the month, which falls on November 9 and 10 respectively, to extend the stay with parents or in-laws. The link for the same is https://matripitrivandana.assam.gov.in . According to the notification, the necessary rules and guidelines to avail of this special leave are mentioned in the portal.
Assam Government took a similar initiative last year under the Matri Pitri Vandana Scheme. Employees staying away from their parents or in-laws could apply for this special leave. The applications had to be filled in beforehand and the reporting authority would make the call on the granting of leaves. A huge number of employees availed of this facility last year and the same is expected this year as well.
