Digital Desk: On Sunday night in Assam's Kamrup Rural area, a youth was shot and injured by police on suspicion of being an alleged member of the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I).
The youth in question was shot in the leg, making him immobile, in the incident that happened in the Salmara region of Baihata Chariali.
The young person has been identified as Pranjal Das. The incidents that led to the police shooting at him and how the situation got out of control are not clear, though.
The youth needed medical care after the incident, so he was admitted to a nearby hospital.
Three young people were shot earlier yesterday in Assam's Tinsukia district by the police on suspicion of being members of the banned militant group (ULFA-I).
According to reports, the fire incident is suspected to have occurred near Dirak in the Tinsukia district of Assam's Kakopathar region.
Reports further claimed that the youths have been identified as Biswanath Buragohain, a resident of Sadiya; Manoj Buragohain, of Nizarapara; and Nabin Neog, of Milan Nagar.
The three youths had injuries from shots on their legs. As per the reports, after receiving basic medical care at the Tinsukia Civil Hospital, they were later sent to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) for advanced care.
Notably, this incident occurred just hours after GP Singh, the Director General of Police (DGP) for Assam, uploaded a post on the social networking platform "X" stating legal action against anyone who joins or supports a terrorist organization that the government has banned. Additionally, he cautioned people about using social media to post about groups that are banned.
