Digital Desk: Assam chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, said on Thursday that the Assam Tea Corporation (ATC) may lease out some tea gardens while keeping their ownership.

He discussed the ways to revamp the ATC's tea gardens during a meeting with the Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha and other stakeholders, while also detailing the difficulties and future plans for the tea gardens.

"Held a meeting with stakeholders of the tea gardens of Assam Tea Corporation to discuss challenges and future roadmap for the industry in our State. We have initiated measures to revamp tea gardens with adequate government intervention for economic empowerment of our tea workers," tweeted CM Sarma.

The meeting also agreed that the government would form three-member committees for the Barak and Brahmaputra valleys to lease out tea gardens and protect tea workers' pay and other benefits.
