    Digital Desk: In a landmark decision on the fourth day of the autumn session, the Assam Legislative Assembly approved the university bills for six colleges in the state.     The colleges that will be elevated to the esteemed status of universities are as follows:


    1. Sibsagar College (Autonomous)


    2. Gurucharan College


    3. Bongaigaon College


    4. North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous)


    5. Nowgong College (Autonomous)


    6. Jagannath Borooah College (Autonomous)


    These bills were initially introduced on the very first day of the autumn session by the Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu.     In addition to the creation of these six new universities, the Assam Legislative Assembly also passed amendment bills for seven existing universities. The universities that will see operational adjustments are:

    3. Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University


    4. Madhabdev University


    5. Assam Women’s University


    6. Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU)

    Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, taking to social media platform X, expressed his enthusiasm about this historic development. He wrote, "On Day 4 of the Autumn Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Govt of Assam under the leadership of Hon'ble CM Dr. @himantabiswa has passed bills for creation of 6 new universities, made amendments to the functioning & operations of 7 existing universities. This will immensely benefit the student populace while providing them greater access to higher education."
