Assam's biggest ever drugs haul worth Rs 210 crore in Silchar, 1 held

Digital Desk: In a significant stride towards achieving a drug-free Assam, the state police have scored a monumental victory in the relentless battle against drug trafficking. A staggering 21 kilograms of heroin, valued at approximately Rs 210 crore in the illicit market, has been seized in Silchar, Assam. 

This record-breaking interception is the result of a coordinated operation led by the Special Task Force of Assam in collaboration with the diligent efforts of the Cachar Police.

The operation, meticulously executed, culminated in the arrest of an individual closely associated with the illegal narcotics trade. The police have escalated their investigative endeavors to dismantle the intricate network responsible for the distribution of these harmful substances, thereby disrupting the drug supply chain.

In another notable development on April 2, Golaghat police apprehended a notorious bike thief, identified as Ajay Singh, further bolstering the crackdown on illicit drug activities in the region. Singh found in possession of eight containers of heroin believed to have been transported from Dimapur, was intercepted despite attempting to evade capture. His detainment at a traffic signal underscores the police's unwavering commitment to curbing the menace of drug trafficking in Assam.

These recent successes mark significant milestones in the ongoing efforts to purge Assam of the scourge of drugs, emphasizing the indispensable role of law enforcement agencies in safeguarding public health and safety.
