    Digital Desk: Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority for Kamrup Metro District, Sumit Sattawan has issued a crucial public advisory following the Brahmaputra River's water level exceeding the danger mark of 49.68 meters.


    Effective immediately, the advisory urges residents living near the riverfront, riverbanks, and nearby areas to maintain heightened vigilance due to increased risks of breaches, embankment failures, and overflows. To safeguard life and property, the following precautions are recommended:


    1. Activity Restrictions: All activities involving country boats and fishing in and around the Brahmaputra River are prohibited until further notice.
    2. Water Avoidance: Refrain from driving or walking through flooded areas due to significant risks.
    3. Floodwater Caution: Steer clear of floodwaters, which may contain sewage, chemicals, or other hazardous substances.
    4. No Crossing Flooded Areas: Avoid swimming or crossing flooded rivers, streams, or any flowing water bodies.
    5. Protection of Vulnerable Groups: Ensure children and elderly individuals remain in safe locations.
    6. Hazard Awareness: Exercise caution regarding potential dangers such as displaced snakes and other animals due to floodwaters.
    7. Electrical Safety: Avoid contact with submerged transformers, inverters, electrical posts, or wires.
    8. Emergency Response: If able, assist individuals who fall into water bodies. Seek help from trained personnel such as the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) or Village Defence Parties (VDPs) if untrained.
