Assam government committed to provide pension on the retirement day: CM Sarma

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited the Directorate of Pension here, to take stock of the delay in pension cases and slow rate of disbursal.

During his visit, CM Sarma reviewed functioning of the pension directorate.

The chief minister later directed the department to sanction pension on the very day of an employee’s retirement.

On the other hand, Sarma directed the Assam Electronics Development Corporation Limited (AMTRON) to integrate both ‘Kritagyata’ and ‘AMTRON’ pension portals apart from linking them with the treasury offices within January, 2022, to make pension disbursement system swift and paperless.

“State government is working towards a system where pension can be provided to an employee on the day of superannuation,” said Sarma.

Sarma also directed AMTRON to provide a scanner in every office of Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO), where an operator will upload documents of the pensioner wherein the Directorate will download and disburse the pension after going through certain formalities digitally.

The chief minister also laid stress on the need of the pensioners to submit their documents before six months of their date of retirement, so that their Pension Payment Orders (PPOs) can be generated on the day of retirement.

CM Sarma also stated that the state government is committed to make the pension system hassle free and efficient.

The chief minister also announced that the Assam government will provide family pension to 272 unmarried daughters of state government employees and disburse a total of 2115 compensatory family pension through the ‘Kritagyata’ portal.
