Digital Desk: Kerala police arrested an Assam native on Saturday for allegedly raping a 52-year-old woman and causing severe injuries in the city four days ago.
According to the police, on December 13, the accused, Firdous, allegedly wooed the woman, a daily wage worker from the Alappuzha area who was employed at a nearby railway station, by offering to show her the way to the nearest metro station.
The police said that after arriving at a remote location near a railroad overbridge, Firdous allegedly forced the victim into the bushes and committed the heinous crime before fleeing the scene.
Then the survivor was found injured by the villagers, who took her straight to the hospital.
According to a police officer, despite having little information about the accused, they were able to identify and apprehend Firdous through an in-depth inquiry, the woman's statement, and further follow-up on available details.
Firdous remained in Kochi despite the incident and he was apprehended on Saturday.
