Digital Desk : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin urged External Affairs Minister(EAM) S Jaishankar to secure the release of 17 Tamil Nadu fishermen who were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy on Tuesday.
GUWAHATI: Assam’s COVID-19 tally mounted to 5,88,856 on Monday as the state recorded 538 fresh cases, while 15 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 5,655.
On the other hand, a total of 612 patients recovered from the disease over the past 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries to 5,76,241, with a recovery rate of 97.86 percent.
The active caseload in the state stands at 5,613.
Kamrup (M) district recorded 103 new COVID-19 positive cases, while Jorhat reported 37, Golaghat 34, and Tinsukia district 33 cases.
Of the new fatalities, three deaths were reported from Jorhat, two each from Nagaon and Sivasagar, and one each from Baksa, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Hojai, Lakhimpur, and Sonitpur districts.
The death rate stood at 0.96 percent.
As many as 79,140 COVID-19 tests were conducted yesterday with the positivity rate being 0.68 percent.
The state has so far tested a total of 2,15,86,352 samples for COVID-19.
Assam has inoculated 1,72,80,330 people to date.
Of them, 1,42,03,271 people have received the first dose while 30,77,059 persons have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
