Digital Desk: India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports observed a maximum temperature of 38.9 degrees Celsius on June 7 in Guwahati, Assam, which was about 4-5 degrees Celsius above normal.

Guwahati is the second highest in June. The highest maximum temperature ever recorded at Guwahati in June is 39.0 degrees Celsius. It happened on June 13, 2019,'' said Sanjay Shaw, Director of Meteorology.
In the wake of the weather alert, the schools in Assam have already modified their school schedules in response to the current high temperatures to provide some comfort to students.
In addition, District Deputy Commissioners in Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Kamrup (Metro), and other Assam districts have directed educational institutions to reschedule the class timings.
