Digital Desk: Following the claims made by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Assam, the husband of the deceased Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jonali Nath filed a complaint against Inspector General of Police (IGP) Debraj Upadhyaya for the remarks made during a press conference, according to media reports on Wednesday.

Jonali Nath's husband, Chandra Kumar Nath, filed an FIR at Matia Police Station in response to IGP Debraj Upadhyaya's claims that the deceased had an illicit relationship with the accused.

Notably, IGP Debraj Upadhyaya stated in a press conference on Monday that Hasanur and Jonali had been having an illicit relationship for the previous two years.

The IGP said, "The accused has confessed that he murdered the woman and dumped her body on the National Highway on Sunday night. The victim had an illicit relationship with the accused for the past two years and was about to marry another woman. The victim had expressed her desire to meet with him once to discuss this and their relationship. So, he paid her a visit, and the two of them met inside a car. After a heated disagreement, the accused hit her on the neck, grabbed her with his bare hands, and strangled her to death. The forensic doctors have verified the same."
