Digital Desk: India's leading telecommunications company, Bharti Airtel, on Monday announced the launch of its fifth-generation mobile (5G) services in Guwahati.

The telecom company said that Airtel 5G Plus services will be made accessible to users in phases as the service provider continues to build its network and finish the roll-out.

Customers with 5G-enabled devices will get access to the high-speed Airtel 5G Plus network at no extra cost until the rollout is more widespread, the company said.

Currently operational on G S Road at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Dispur College, Ganeshguri, Christian Basti, Sree Nagar, Zoo Road, Lachit Nagar, Ulubari, Bhangagarh and Beltola, and a few other select sites, the company stated Airtel would enhance its network in due course of time, making its services available across the city.

Commenting on the launch, Rajnish Verma, Chief Executive Officer, Bharti Airtel for Assam and North-East, said, "I am happy to announce the launch of Airtel 5G Plus in Guwahati. Customers of Airtel can now access an ultrafast network with speeds up to 20–30 times quicker than those of existing 4G. We are illuminating the entire city by providing customers with speedy access to high-definition video streaming, gaming, multiple chatting, rapid photo uploading, and more."

The telecom company claimed that Airtel 5G Plus would improve all of the services it provides, adding that it would also enable incredibly quick access to high-definition video streaming, gaming, multiple chatting, immediate photo uploading, and more.

The company also stated that no SIM card changes are required and that its existing Airtel 4G SIM card is 5G-enabled.

The service provider claims that with this debut, Airtel 5G Plus will revolutionize education, health care, manufacturing, agriculture, mobility, and logistics.

Further, the company stated that Airtel has been at the forefront of 5G innovation, from being India's first live 5G network in Hyderabad to India's first 5G-powered hologram to India's first reconstruction of a game-changing World Cup match played while there was no TV coverage.
