Digital Desk: The North East Film Fest 2023, organized by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry of the Government of India, has concluded with Assam's Parthasarathi Mahanta winning big. The festival, held at the National Film Development Corporation in Mumbai, showcased some of the finest works of filmmakers from the region.
The festival jury named 'Bohag Bohag Mon' the best short film in the environment and culture category. The lyrical presentation, directed by Parthasarathi Mahanta and produced by Mina Mahanta and Debajit Bhuyan, depicts the syncretic relationship between nature and humans, particularly the emotions associated with Bohag, the first month of the Assamese calendar.
'Lachit the Warrior,' another film by the same team, won the Jury Special Category award. The animated biopic poem is based on the legendary Assamese General Lachit Barphukan, who defeated the mighty Mughal army.
Several Bollywood celebrities, including Mahima Choudhury, Gulshan Grover, Randeep Hooda, and Punam Dhillon, attended the festival. Senior Ministry of Information and Broadcasting officials were also present.
The festival, which took place from March 24th to March 26th, 2023, was a spectacular celebration of Northeast India's artistic and cultural heritage. Parthasarathi Mahanta and his team's awards demonstrate the region's growing prominence in the Indian film industry.
