Boko: In a shocking incident, a two-year-old minor girl died after being hit by a stray bullet triggered by the forest department, meant to disperse wild elephants in the area. The forest department had reportedly fired to disperse wild elephants which hit the mother and her minor daughter. While the toddler died on the spot, the mother is battling with her life after being hit by the bullet in the neck.

The incident took place after a herd of elephants came down to feed on paddy fields in the area. Initial reports suggest that the Forest personnel were deployed in the area to control the situation after a wild elephant herd had entered into the area, causing trouble and destroying tea gardens, paddy fields etc.
The girl’s mother, identified as Malabika Daimary, has been brought to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment.
The Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Alka Bhargav paid a visit to the GMCH to inquire about Malabika’s condition. She has even ordered an inquiry into the incident.
