Guwahati: Chief convener of Barak Democratic Front ( BDF), Pradip Dutta Roy, has been granted bail today by the court. Cachar Police arrested him on November 27 after prolonged hours of interrogation.
Dutta's lawyer had applied for bail in Silchar court, citing health reasons. On this ground, the court has granted interim bail this evening.
As per sources, Dutta underwent treatment at Silchar Medical College for several days following a court order due to his physical illness.

An FIR was filed at the Silchar Sadar Police station with allegations against him attempting to disturb harmony and peace among communities and hurt sentiments.
Following his arrest, he was sent to the Silchar Central Jail. Initially, his bail was rejected by Chief Judicial Magistrate Rupak Rajjak.
