COVID-19 restrictions extended till October 2 in Mizoram; picnic resorts allowed to operate

AIZAWL: The Mizoram government in a bid to control spread of coronavirus in the state has extended Covid-related restrictions till October 2.

However, certain relaxations have been brought in place in the hill state during the period.

According to the new guidelines, picnic resorts with a maximum of 25 attendees, have been allowed to operate.

On the other hand, shops and vegetable markets, which were in ‘C’ category, would now be allowed to open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

The Mizoram government had imposed partial lockdown in the Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) area and certain restrictions in other parts of the state, after the total lockdown, from July 18 to August 7, was lifted on August 8.

As per the new rules, though all public places of gatherings and religious places will remain closed in the AMC area, markets, shops and commercial transport will continue to operate in a restrictive manner.
