    Cachar: Contraband drugs seized, including 6, 20,000 Yaba tablets

    Digital Desk: On December 17, a large shipment of Yaba pills were seized in Cachar. The police team intercepted a car after receiving a tip and discovered the contraband inside. 


    During the operation, 62 packets containing 6,20,000 Yaba tablets were discovered. The police also nabbed three suspects in the case. According to police, the three accused were from the neighbouring state of Meghalaya. 


    Assam Chief Minister Himanta Sarma congratulated the police on their success on Twitter.


    On December 13, Guwahati City Police confiscated a big quantity of illegal substances from an ambulance, including 50,000 Yaba tablets and 200 grammes of Heroin worth more than Rs 14 crore. 


    "We arrested a guy in the matter, and further investigation is proceeding," said Joint Commissioner of Police Partha Sarathi Mahanta. 


    According to authorities, on December 11, drugs worth Rs 50 crore were confiscated and five people were arrested in Assam's Cachar district. According to Cachar Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta, on Saturday night, police apprehended two automobiles travelling from Aizawl to Silchar after receiving a tip.


    "We recovered two lakh Yaba tablets from the two cars, which were travelling from Myanmar to Mizoram. These would have a market value of roughly Rs 50 crore " Numal Mahatta stated. 


    "It's a large interstate group. Our investigation is ongoing, and we are hopeful that additional criminals will be apprehended "He resumed.


    According to Mahatta, the police also arrested five people for their claimed involvement in the drug-peddling episode.
