Digital Desk:  On Thursday, the President of India nominated Kaushik Goswami as an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court.

According to a notification issued by the Special Secretary to the Government of India, Kaushik Goswami has been appointed as the High Court's Additional Judge for a two-year term.

The centre issued notification read, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Kaushik Goswami, to be an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court, for a period of two years with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.” 

Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice, took to X to announce the news.

Notably, with Goswami's appointment, the Gauhati High Court would operate with 25 judges instead of the sanctioned 30.

Meanwhile, the Central Government appointed judges to the Madhya Pradesh and Patna High Courts, as well as additional judges to the Punjab and Haryana High Courts. Sumeet Goel, Sudeepti Sharma, and Kirti Singh have been appointed as new judges to the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
