Cherry Blossom festival cancelled because of the firing incident in Mukroh
The Chief Minister, who called an emergency meeting today, stated that the Meghalaya government would contact the Union Home Minister to express its concerns about the Mukroh incident.

Digital Desk: According to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, all Meghalaya festivals, including the Cherry Blossom festival, have been cancelled as a result of this morning's firing incident on the Assam-Meghalaya border at Mukroh Village.

The Chief Minister, who called an emergency meeting today, stated that the Meghalaya government would contact the Union Home Minister to express its concerns about the Mukroh incident.

Conrad stated that the incident occurred in Meghalaya and that an FIR has been filed. It was also revealed that six people were killed and two others were seriously injured in the incident.
The cancellation of the Chery Blossom Festival is bound to be a blow to the state's tourism sector, as many tourists were expected to arrive for the two-day festival, which was scheduled to begin on November 24. All hotels in Shillong and surrounding areas are fully booked in anticipation of the festival, which is envisioned as Meghalaya's answer to Nagaland's Horn Bill festival.
