Digital Desk: In the high-stakes arena of Indian politics, every move counts, especially in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi seems keenly aware of this as he gears up to visit Nagaon in Assam on April 20, according to state party insiders.

Assam is poised for a significant political showdown with polls scheduled in three phases on April 19, April 26, and May 7. Rahul Gandhi's strategic visit is a part of Congress's concerted efforts to bolster its presence in the region.

Notably, Rahul's sister, Priyanka Gandhi, is also set to make her mark on the campaign trail with rallies planned in Jorhat and Dibrugarh before the first phase of polling begins.

However, Rahul Gandhi's decision to skip campaigning in areas he previously visited during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra has stirred some controversy. Despite this, Congress remains resolute in its mission to rally support ahead of the polls.

Predictably, criticism has emerged from BJP quarters, with Assam minister Pijush Hazarika dismissing Rahul Gandhi's rally as a potential 'super flop event.'

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to hold rallies in Assam and Tripura on April 17, setting the stage for a face-off between the two major political players.

Adding to the political fervor, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mamata Banerjee is poised to make her presence felt with a rally in Silchar on the same day. This move underscores the intense competition unfolding in the region.

With political tensions running high, Assam braces itself for a hotly contested electoral battle where every rally, every speech, and every gesture could tip the scales in favor of the victor.
