A Police official was accused of capturing illicit photographs of a minor girl...

Digital Desk: The disgraced police officer implicated in the Ghograpar Police Station case, Biman Roy, was taken into custody on Thursday at Panikhaiti Railway Station.

As per the reported incident that took place on June 26, the police officer had been accused of taking indecent photos of a minor girl who had been detained and was being held at the Police Station.

Biman Roy, the accused police officer, was reportedly discovered unconscious at the Panikhaiti Railway Station today.

He was apparently found by members of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), who subsequently brought him there for treatment.

The superintendent of GMCH, Abhijit Sarma, spoke with the media and stated, "An unidentified person was taken to GMCH at roughly 5.42 am today. The patient had a low Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS). At 8:15, as per the recorded time.

"The doctors who were treating him said he had food poisoning." His GCS is still low at the moment. One member of his family is currently with him. "He was recognised as Biman Roy," Abhijit Sarma stated.

It should be noted that the officer reported that he was on the run after the event. It was also reported that if the Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ghograpar Police Station in Nalbari is found guilty in the First Information Report (FIR) made by a minor, he will face legal punishment.

On June 26, a minor girl filed a complaint at the police station against the officer, accusing him of taking indecent images of her and embarrassing her in front of other officials within the lock-up.

It was discovered that the victim female supposedly eloped with her lover on June 21; however, they were arrested by police and sent to Ghograpar PS. They were both placed in jail that night.

"I was forced to remove my clothes by the SI, but I denied it. He then threatened me, and hence I got scared and removed my clothes. SI had clicked my naked picture and had tried to harass me with his obscene gesture. In the morning, I had informed about the incident to a woman police official, but she asked me to keep quiet," stated as per according to the girl's complaint letter.

Following this, a case was filed against the police official under section 354(b)/509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and R/W section 12/14(1) of the POCSO act (Nalbari police station case number 287/23).

Assam Police DGP GP Singh tweeted a photo of the accused, Biman Roy and promised that if the Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ghograpar Police Station in Nalbari was proven guilty in the minor's First Information Report (FIR), he would face legal action.

However, the accused official, Biman Roy, was already on the loose at the time. He was immediately expelled from the service.

Assam Police DGP GP Singh stated he was very dismayed and anguished by what "one of us" had done.

"One inspector has failed us all. The entire police force is distraught. "I assure the people of Assam that the power vested in me as DGP will be used to the fullest extent possible to ensure that the glory of Assam Police is preserved," Singh added.

He also stated that the action taken might be interpreted as a warning and recommendation to all Assam Police officers to safeguard the sanctity of police stations and ensure that police stations remain the safest place for children and women.
