Guwahati: Hit by the episodic price rise in fuel and other essential commodities, people have decreased their Diwali shopping list this season as the price of commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) rose by Rs 266 in the country, while rates of domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas cylinders remained the same.
From its previous rate of Rs 1,735.5, the price of commercial LPG cylinders has been hiked to Rs 2000.5. In Mumbai, a commercial cylinder 19 kg will now cost Rs 1,950. In Kolkata and Chennai, commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas cylinders will be available for Rs 2,073.50 and Rs 2,133, respectively.

The prices of subsided LPG were hiked by Rs 15 in October, making it the fourth increase in prices within a span of two months. The prices of non-subsidised LPG cylinders were also hiked last month by Rs 25.
In New Delhi, LPG cylinders are priced at Rs 899.50 presently, while in Mumbai, the price is also at Rs 899.50, the same as Delhi. In Kolkata and Chennai, the LPG prices are at Rs 926.00 and Rs 915.50, respectively.
The recent increase in prices of subsidized Liquefied Petroleum Gas price has resulted in the cost of the cylinders being cumulatively hiked by Rs 205 per cylinder since 1 January 2021.
