    In the sensational Guwahati Child Abuse case, Dr. Sangeeta Datta's Police Custody Extended by 5 Days

    The police custody of Dr Sangeeta Datta, the
    principal culprit in the terrible child abuse case that shocked the entire
    state, was extended on Friday by the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court in
    Guwahati.



    color:black">According to information gathered, the court prolonged Sangeeta
    Datta's police detention by five days after the police reportedly asked a
    seven-day extension.



    Dr. Sangeeta Datta, the
    main culprit in the case, was brought before the court today after her previous
    prison time expired.



    color:black">Meanwhile, the doctor couple's two housekeepers, who were also
    being questioned in connection with the case, appeared in court today.



    color:black">Lakshmi Rai and Kabai, the doctor couple's housekeepers, were both
    arrested and detained for three days. It should be mentioned that Lakhsmi Rai
    was previously remanded to court prison and has now been transferred to police
    custody as the investigation into the terrible case continues.



    Earlier on May 10, the
    court of the chief judicial magistrate prolonged Dr Waliul Islam's police
    custody by another five days in the atrocious child abuse case.



    color:black">After his five-day police detention, the city police brought
    accused Waliul Islam before the court. The Guwahati police had filed an
    application to extend Waliul Islam's police custody for five days.



    color:black">Earlier that morning, Islam's wife, Dr Sangeeta Datta, was
    escorted from Pan Bazaar Police Station to the forensic department of Gauhati
    Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for a health check-up.



    On Wednesday, a blood
    sample was examined and a health check-up was performed in the GMCH forensic
    department. Earlier, the court confined Dr. Datta to five days in police
    prison.



    color:black">Meanwhile, in a significant development in the horrifying child
    abuse case, a journalist was imprisoned for his role in the case. Abhijit Bose
    has been recognised as the guy detained. He is alleged to be the personal
    assistant of accused doctor Sangeeta Datta's brother.



    color:black">According to sources, Abhijit offered security to his elder sister
    over the phone. He was arrested under Section 120 (B) for giving protection to
    the accused and was later released following an interrogation.
