Digital Desk : A new controversy has erupted between singers Diljit Dosanjh and AP Dhillon. It took centre stage during AP Dhillon's concert in Chandigarh where he accused Diljit of blocking him on Instagram.
The Election Commission of India (EC) issued a warning order to Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. EC lets off Assam CM Sarma with a warning for violating model code during campaigns for upcoming bypolls.
The EC, in an order, stated that it is of the "considered view" that Sarma, star campaigner for the BJP, has "acted in contravention to the spirit of the advisory/instruction issued by the commission" regarding the model code of conduct.
"Now, therefore, the commission issues warning to him and cautions him to be more careful and exercise restraint in future. Also to strictly follow the provisions of model code of conduct, while making public utterances," the order read.
On Monday, EC issued a show-cause notice to Assam CM Sarma for violating the model code of conduct. Opposition party claimed that CM Sarma made new promises while campaigning for upcoming bypolls.
The EC had informed Sarma of the terms of the poll code. Including its instructions concerning ministers and the party in power in its notice.

"Announcement of new projects or programmes or concessions or financial grants in any form or promises thereof or laying of foundation stones, etc., which have the effect of influencing the voters in favour of the party in power is prohibited," the EC had reminded Sarma.
The Election Commission of India issued a notice for CM Sarma on Monday. The notice asked for an answer from the chief minister.
In his response, Sarma denied the allegations on the grounds that all the announcements at various election meetings held in Bhawanipur, Thowra and Mariani assembly seats. Sarma said all announcements were announced earlier by the government regarding multiple constructions works.
He said that he had made no new announcements as claimed by the complainants made by the opposition party's leaders.
The upcoming by-polls will take place on October 30, 2021. Five different constituencies of Assam, including Gossaigaon, Tamulpur, Thowra, Bhabanipur, and Mariani, will conduct by-polls.
As per reports, 31 candidates will contest in the upcoming by-polls. The Election Commission of India will soon issue the model code of conduct for the by-polls.
