    Digital Desk: The Assam Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Ashok Singhal claimed that Guwahati people will experience a break from the constant flooding and waterlogging this year. 

    Leading a pivotal meeting of the Department of Housing & Urban Affairs (DoHUA) in Guwahati on Friday, Singhal reported that a comprehensive report on the yearly flash floods in Guwahati had been received from the relevant officers. 

    Singhal additionally guaranteed that all channels allowing water to flow out will be cleansed before to the celebration of Bohag Bihu, which is observed in April. 

     "This year, Guwahati will not experience flooding, all channels that let water flow out from the city will be cleared before Bohag Bihu. 

     "By 2024, the city's drinking water issue will also be resolved. Fresh drinking water will be provided to all areas of Guwahati through the JICA water supply project. People of all places will receive drinking water within June-July this year,” he added. 

    Additionally, a total of 20,000 houses received drinking water supply connections in Guwahati today as the cabinet minister initiated the scheme.

    Meanwhile, taking to platform ‘X’, Singhal wrote, “Chaired a Review Meeting on the progress of ongoing measures & initiatives under “Mission Flood Free Guwahati”. Issued instructions to officials of DoHUA to speed up their efforts to ensure Guwahati is made flood free before the monsoons ensue.”

    Additionally, the cabinet minister initiated a plan today that connected 20,000 houses in Guwahati to the drinking water supply.
