    Former Meghalaya Speaker and Congress leader Abu Tahir Mandal joins NPP
    While talking about the reason behind joining NPP Mandal said that political instability has been the biggest problem in Meghalaya. 

    Digital Desk: Former Meghalaya Speaker and Congress leader Abu Tahir Mandal joined the National People's Party (NPP) on Saturday. National President of NPP and Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma also announced Mandal as the NPP candidate from the Phulbari constituency for the 2023 Meghalaya Assembly Elections. 

    It is to be noted that Abu Tahir Mandal was the Speaker of the Meghalaya Assembly during the previous Congress government and is one of the veteran leaders of the state. However, he lost the election during the last assembly elections.

    While talking about the reason behind joining NPP Mandal said that political instability has been the biggest problem in Meghalaya. He said that he has seen that the previous governments could not complete their term. And because of this, the public was affected. 

    He further stated that he has not only seen the ruling government led by Conrad Sangma is not only going to complete its term but has also lived up to the expectations of the people. And seeing the developments he and his supporters joined the National People's Party.
