Secretary and President of the All India Professionals' Congress (AIPC) Assam
state unit Gauravv Somani has slammed the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC)
for failing to handle the city's key challenges.

    "In
such scorching heat, the entire city is facing a scarcity of drinking
water." Residents of the city have begun to go to the streets to express
their displeasure. GMC water tankers and private water tankers, on the other
hand, are bringing entire dirt and contaminated water to city inhabitants,
which has become a more serious hazard to one's health," Somani claimed in
    a statement.

unclean water that appears to be completely polluted with hazardous bacteria
    and germs.

color:black">"As the water is contaminated with high levels of chemicals,
metal fluorides, nitrate, salinity, and iron, its consumption may result in
severe kidney problems, cancers, blue baby syndrome, diarrhoea, acidity, and
dental disorders." The bigger concern is where the private tankers are
getting their water and delivering it to city people as safe drinking water. It
should be noted that the majority of residential units and private residences
rely on water supplied by private water tankers. Why isn't the government doing
anything to ensure the cleanliness of water delivered by tankers? What prevents
them from doing so? Above all, water tankers charge outrageous charges, and the
entire GMC administration has turned a blind eye to the issues," Somani
    remarked.

    Somani challenged the
concerned Minister and city Mayor to drink a glass of water from the private
water tankers meant to deliver drinking water to Guwahatians, condemning the
GMC's inefficiency in not being able to handle the drinking water scarcity and
contamination of water delivered to the people.
