According to police reports, Dr. Sharma had been receiving therapy for her condition and has long-standing mental health concerns.
Digital Desk: A doctor from the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) reportedly committed suicide at her Hatigaon residence.
The deceased has been identified as Dr. Ivy Sharma. She was the assistant professor of the department of pathology at GMCH.
Sharma was found dead early on Sunday morning at her home in Hatigaon's Basisthapur Lane No. 3, according to sources. Her hanged body was found in her daughter's room.
Dr. Debojit Choudhury, Dr. Sharma's husband, was present at home during the incident. He was reportedly in the other room of the house. His wife was found locked inside their daughter's room when he started searching for her. He eventually managed to break down the door to the room and found her body hanging from the fan.
When she arrived at the GMCH, the medical staff declared her dead. A post-mortem has been ordered for the deceased's body.
But, it is still unknown why she took the unfortunate step.
Meanwhile, the police have opened a case and begun an investigation into the incident.

Dr. Debojit Choudhury described the horrific event, saying, "At around 6:30 in the morning, I noticed that my wife was not in her bed. I searched the entire house and when I tried to open our daughter’s room, I realized that the room was locked from the inside. When I broke open the door, I found her hanging to the fan in the room.”
"In 1998, we got married. There were no fights between us, and we were living in great peace. Our only daughter is currently attending school in New Delhi," Choudhury added.
