Digital Desk: In an unexpected turn of events, Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has ordered an internal investigation into the death of noted educationist Deven Dutta.
This comes after the 81-year-old consumer rights activist and former vice principal of Cotton College passed away late last night at the hospital.
According to reports, GMCH officials have declared that an investigation into the death will be conducted since they believe it was caused by inefficiency and negligence.
GMCH authorities repotedly stated that, Deven Dutta may have died as he did not receive the required blood at the right time.

Deven Dutta, an eminent educationist and former Vice Principal of Cotton University, passed away on Friday while receiving treatment at GMCH.
Deven Dutta an active public servant, who died last night at GMCH about 12.10 a.m. According to preliminary reports, he was diagnosed with heart, kidney, and lung issues.
He was admitted to GMCH on August 11 and was being treated there.
The noted educationist, and a very well-known face, Deven Dutta was born on April 5, 1944, in Nazira, Sivasagar, and was living in Guwahati's Sundarpur area. He received his post-graduate degree in English in 1965 and began his career as a professor of English at Cotton College.
Deven Dutta was Married to Arundhati Dutt but Professor Dutt's wife also passed away some time ago.
Deven Dutta received a promotion and represented Cotton College's Vice Principal position in 2001. He retired in 2002 to follow his dreams of becoming a consumer rights activist.
According to sources, the famed educationist's final rituals will be performed at Nabagraha crematorium.
