On Thursday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma mourned the incident, saying that there were two parts to the case: the two-wheeler was trying to overtake the school bus from the wrong side, and there was an open pit on the roadside. The chief minister stated that he has asked the Deputy Commissioner of the Kamrup Metro District Administration to investigate the matter to figure out the reason for leaving the dug-up pit on the roadside uncovered.
