Digital Desk: A Grade-IV employee of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has been suspended for misbehaving with a patient's attendant on the premises of the hospital on Tuesday, according to reports.

The GMCH employee has been identified as Bimal Kumar Das, who misbehaved and even engaged in a violent attack with a patient's attendant earlier today. The entire incident was filmed on the CCTV camera installed in the room.

In the CCTV camera video, the employee can be seen getting into a dispute with the attendant, which later evolved into a fight.

The incident was subsequently reported to GMCH Superintendent Abhijeet Sarma, who later suspended him for misbehaving with the patient's attendant.

In February, an employee of the Cardiothoracic and Neuroscience Centre at GMCH was caught red-handed by an attendant of an ICU patient while trying to forcefully sell expired medicines to him.

The employee, identified as Dipu Das, a resident of Boripara, Maligaon, had been trying to sell medicines worth Rs 1000 from his vehicle.

Following a written report from the victim, the impersonator was immediately suspended from his position by the GMCH authorities.

Later, an FIR was filed against the individual at the Bhangagarh police station.

Speaking to the media, GMCH Superintendent Abhijit Sarma stated, "The accused was caught engaging in malpractice and as a result, he was suspended with immediate effect. I have already filed an FIR, and the suspect has been arrested. A committee of inquiry has also been established to investigate the matter. The committee will have 48 hours to submit the report. The accused had earlier been transferred from Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) to the CN Centre, GMCH."

Sarma added that the accused confessed to keeping medicines in his car, which he claimed to have obtained from the belongings of ICU death patients.
