    Gurukul Grammar School turns into a Covid-19 hotspot: Guwahati 
    Digital Desk: The Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School, Guwahati, has turned into a Covid-19 hotspot after 144 individuals tested positive on Tuesday.

    Previously, eight individuals were tested Covid-19 positive from the Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School. However, the school administration continued the 9th and 10th standard classes in full swing.

    In this regard, parents have a field complaint regarding the issue. Based on the complaint, a team of health departments today reached the school and started Covid-19 testing procedures. 

    Upon testing, around 22 teaching staff members were tested positive. In addition, including these numbers, around eight non-teaching staff members were tested positive for the Covid-19 infection.

    The district administration immediately ordered the officials to close the continuation of offline classes in the school.

    Guwahati has recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases in the last few weeks. On Monday, one thousand four hundred ninety-one cases were reported alone in Guwahati and Kamrup (Metro). In such a scenario, holding offline classes for the students can turn dangerous. 

    The Assam government has already set curbs for restricting the surge of Covid-19 infections in the state. The Assam government has made it compulsory for the people to wear masks, and measures are underway to provide complete vaccination to every individual of the state.

    Overall, 47 Omicron cases were documented in Assam on Monday after the North East Institute of Science and Technology gave over the confirmatory reports of the presumed patients following whole-genome sequencing.

    According to the latest report by the state health department, Assam recorded 6,982 fresh Covid-19 cases in a single day. Moreover, 11 deaths have been recorded in the state in the last 24 hours due to the Covid-19 infection.

    Moreover, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has lately stated that those who are non-vaccinated will not be allowed to enter any public places such as market areas, shopping malls, eateries etc.
